Course Overview: This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to extend their occupational competence as professionals within the health and social care and children and young people’s sectors. 

In addition to being a stand-alone qualification, this 90-credit qualification forms the combined knowledge and competency element of the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management – Level 5 (England) for adult social care ONLY. This framework does not currently include pathways for people working in the Health Service or Children and Young People’s Services.

Recommended forThis qualification is aimed at individuals who are working as care managers or advanced practitioners within these sectors. 

Apprenticeship Wage: When undertaking an Apprenticeship, you could earn anything from the current minimum wage rate of £3.70 PH to £7.83 PH or more depending on employer’s internal policy. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.

Course Entry Requirements: In order to register on to this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements: 

  • Be employed in a suitable role (as outlined above) within the health and social care or children and young people’s sector.
  • Additionally, it is recommended that learners are able to demonstrate prior achievement of qualifications at a minimum of level 3 in a related area.

It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent) to undertake this qualification. It is recommended that learners will have completed a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.  

Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for this apprenticeship course, the following criteria must be met:

  • be aged 16+ at the time of enrolment
  • be a UK or European Economic Area (EEA), or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three consecutive years
  • be in full-time employment, working a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • not already hold a qualification at the same level or above in the similar area that you wish to study.

Progression Route: Learners who successfully complete this qualification may progress to Further or Higher Education to study towards a Diploma or Degree in their chosen subject or specialism.
